Information for web designers and developers

Welcome to the Technology section of our site – aimed principally at web designers and developers, rather than agents. That said, if you are an estate agent and you have an existing website designer we would be delighted to invite them into our partner programme. This is the section of our site you will need to send your web design partner to in order for them to assess our platform and API as a system to build a website on. It also explains a little about the advantages you get from doing so.

In here you will find; information on the web design partnership programme, a comprehensive set of developer documentation on the platform, and our technical blog posts.

 Design partner programme

Design partner programme

We normally build websites for agents in combination with a front end design partner. We’re quite happy to manage this process for agents seamlessly, helping them choose a designer from our existing partner programme in the background, and, given the number of sites we do with our partners, this works like clockwork. But we’re also perfectly comfortable sitting in the background (indeed this is our preference longer term) and having you own and manage the relationship with the estate agent client directly, with us acting in the background to support your engineering delivery.

There are many advantages for web-designers building on top of the Homeflow platform rather than re-inventing the wheel. Our central engineering effort and high scale portal heritage, creates a platform that we hope can offer you far more powerful functionality. Features like implied search, MongoDB caching for much faster search results speed, better SEO foundations, sophisticated user profile systems, and more powerful draw-a-map functionality, to name but a few, can help great web development agencies go higher and faster for their estate agent clients. Indeed even agencies who have build numerous and powerful estate agent websites in the past (as several of our existing design partners have done) will find that the power and functionality of the Homeflow platform allows them to reduce their costs, whilst at the same time, building functionality that they might not be able to reach working solo. Instead of having to build all the systems, and start from the ground up, you can focus your resources (and your estate agent client’s budget) to deliver a better front end design and experience.

Another key advantage for our design / web development partners is that we have a steady flow of agent sites in build, and we are always looking for designers to work on the website builds with us (we hand out several bigger clients a month at the moment) – so there can be a steady flow of projects we can send you, once you are graduated on our design partner programme.

Developer documentation

Developer documentation

Please visit our developer documentation wiki, to explore all the features and functionality you can pull together to build a great estate agency website on top of the Homeflow platform.

This is a living set of documentation, supported by direct interaction with our core programming team: Our engineers are always on hand for developers at our design partners to pick up the phone and chat to. We can also pair program with you if that helps. Indeed we often work on projects together with developers visiting our office for a few days to “liquify” their first agency site alongside our own engineers. Or we can come out to your offices and do the same thing. If you have any questions that aren’t clear enough in the documentation, or if you need more examples, we’ll answer the question directly, but improve the documentation in the process – that’s how it’s been built up to date, and you are welcome to contribute, as the platform is continually advancing.

In this section we publish a selection of occasional esoteric or (we think) interesting articles from our technology team on some of the open source work we contribute back, or the more interesting technical challenges we have addressed. It’s strictly aimed at engineers – if you don’t love code, you won’t get it. Enjoy!
